Ulterium Records are proud to announce the release of a limited double gatefold vinyl edition of the STRYPER live album "Live at the Whisky". A deal was inked with Frontiers Records and the European release date is set to August 7th. The edition is strictly limited to 300 copies worldwide.

The vinyl edition features new artwork created by Jan Yrlund of Darkgrove Design.

Yet another live CD/DVD release on the market here, with Stryper the next cab off the rank.

The 16-track collection documents the band’s first show in support of No More Hell To Pay, the band’s most recent (and well received) release.

The show is set in the intimate setting of LA’s famous Whiskey club, meaning the crowd, the stage, the cameras and the amps are all packed in. There’s not much room to move up there on stage, but the band lets the music do the talking.

The audio capture is ok – not the best I have ever heard, but far from the worst also. At least the band is truly live up there and not relying on overdubs.

Material comes from across the band’s catalogue and the new album, plus that blazing cover of Jesus Is Just Alright complete with some tasteful shredding by Michael Sweet – the guy is an underrated guitarist!

The DVD of Live At The Whisky also contains the music video for “No More Hell To Pay” and “Sympathy” from their latest album No More Hell To Pay plus an interview segment.

A disc and a DVD for a fair price is good value for fans and I have no doubt most Stryper fans will have already run out and scored a copy of this. If not – it’s a safe bet folks.

Stryper front man to perform rare, holiday solo show in Plymouth

Michael Sweet, front man of the multi-platinum, Christian rock band Stryper, is performing a rare, holiday solo concert at the Spire Center for Performing Arts in Plymouth, Mass., on Friday, Dec. 19, 2014, at 8 p.m. The concert will feature Stryper classics, songs from his solo career, and popular Christmas carols to get you ready for the holiday season.

With a career and repertoire spanning over three decades, Sweet has fronted one of the most trailblazing groups of the MTV generation, written a stable of Billboard charting singles, filled arenas all the world over, said goodbye at the peak of it all, took stock in a thriving solo career, got Stryper back together for yet another record breaking run and even took a stint co-leading one of the most legendary classic rock acts ever, Boston, from 2007 to 2011.

Musically speaking, Sweet is coming off yet another creative high in the Stryper camp thanks to its 2013’s return to form record No More Hell To Pay. Besides making an instantaneous Top 40 debut on the Billboard 200, it landed at #2 on the Top Christian Albums charts, #3 on Top Hard Rock Albums and #6 on Top Rock Albums. It’s certainly a testament to the band’s perseverance, whetting the public’s appetite all the more for Sweet’s I’m Not Your Suicide, which may technically be the follow-up to 2007’s individual offering Touched, but is actually the singer/songwriter’s first full-length original album since 2000’s Truth.

After back to back albums welcomed by fans and critics alike, Faithsedge featuring lead vocalist/ songwriter Giancarlo Floridia and former Dokken guitarist Alex De Rosso will enter the studio in 2015 to record the third Faithsedge installment.

Joining the new lineup will feature Tim Gaines (Stryper) on bass and drummer Matt Starr (Mr.Big /Ace Frehley) which will deliver a crushing new rhythm section.

Taking over production and full time keys for the album will be Alessandro Del Vecchio (Hardline) known for his melodically charged keys and excellent productions.

The album has been written by Floridia and the band will start pre production early 2015 with plans to release by the end of the year.

Faithsedge's current record "The Answer of Insanity" was released in September through Scarlet Records / eOne music.

SWEET/LYNCH - A 4-Track Preview Of Debut Album

Vocalist Michael Sweet (Stryper) and guitarist George Lynch (Dokken, Lynch Mob) have teamed up for SWEET/LYNCH, an album designed by Frontiers Records CEO Serafino, which is due for release early in 2015.

I’ve been fortunate enough to preview 4 tracks from the upcoming album and can’t speak highly enough of the tracks!

Both Lynch and Sweet impress the hell out of me on these tracks and the backing band of James Lomenzo (Megadeth, White Lion, Black Label Society) and drummer Brian Tichy (S.U.N., Whitesnake) means that if these four tracks are anything to go by, all the songs written for this album are going to be hammered home by this ultra-powerful rhythm section.

Sweet just sounds extraordinarily good on these songs. And Lynch is shredding and riffing like a man possessed. This is something big to look forward to.

Briefly – the four tracks I have heard are:

The Wish – A brilliant, rousing hard rocker with a thumping beat and an instant guitar riff, and a melodic vocal driven chorus that isn’t huge, but is immediately stored in the memory bank for endless repeating in your head later. And Lynch gets to display the best of his guitar work during a decent length solo.

Like A Dying Rose – An even better chorus on this one. The beat isn’t as intense or as fast as The Wish, but the chorus is huge and delivers a sound mix of everything that made Dokken and Stryper Platinum sellers. A big big vocal!

Love Stays – A slow, groove orientated ballad with a direct, impactful chorus and some classy guitar playing throughout.

Time Will Tell – Less intense than the other tracks, but more uptempo, adding good variety to the 4 tracks previewed. Another strong, harmony filled chorus and some choppy riffing.

Live At The Whisky Slated for Release in September via Frontiers Records

Stryper is back with their latest release, a live CD/DVD combination called Live At The Whisky. The live recording will be available on September 19 in Europe and September 23 in North America, via Frontiers Records and is truly a must have for any fan!

The concert was recorded at a sold-out show last November at the famous Whisky a Go Go on Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles. The 16-track collection documents the band’s first show in support of their latest critically acclaimed release, No More Hell To Pay. From the show opener “Legacy” to the final notes of show finale “Soldiers Under Command,” Live At The Whisky documents Stryper’s rich musical legacy that spans over 30 years.
